Don’t miss your chance to be part of The Sinclair!
One of the most famed golf events for the Albertainsurance industry – The Jim Sinclair Charity Golf Tournament – will be celebrating 20 years on June 2, 2014 at Heritage Pointe Golf Club.
In 1994, a small group of Calgary adjusters, executives and brokers from the insurance industry launched The Jim Sinclair Charity Golf Tournament. The tournament was designed to give back to the community by way of support from the insurance industry through sponsorship, donations and volunteerism. “The industry has been very good to many people and those of us who can, simply have a responsibility to give back to our community,” stated Jim Sinclair, retired Guardian Insurance Senior Vice President whom the tournament is named for.
Each year the event sells out in record time, with sponsors rolling in from all over. Original founder, Bob Shaw says,”The P&C industry has provided very good careers and business opportunities for many people, over many decades. From what began with “two foursomes and an idea” in 1994, The Sinclair has evolved into the largest all-industry insurance charity event in Western Canada. While recognizing the significant career of our tournament patron, Jim Sinclair, the event enables all facets of the P&C business to enjoy a day of fellowship, plenty of laughs and an opportunity to give back to their community. Now if only we can fix the damn weather in early June!”
The Sinclair remains Alberta‛s only insurance industry fundraising event of its kind and in 20 years has raised more than $600,000 for charity. All of the funds raised this year will go to support MRU Bissett School of Business scholarships and Women in Insurance Cancer Crusade (WICC).
