Run for L’Arche 2013

This was the third annual Run for L’Arche and the event was the largest to date with more than 600 total participants in the Half Marathon, 5 Mile Race and 1K Fun Run Walk.

Calgary Mayor Naheed Nenshi was in attendance as the 2013 Run for L’Arche Offi cial Race Starter. The weather was crisp when Mayor Nenshi blasted the airhorn to send the participants out onto the Bow River Pathway, but the runners were pleased with what they considered to be perfect race conditions.

Over 125 volunteers spent the day at Eau Claire Market and along the pathway ensuring that all of the participants had a great experience. The volunteers handled duties including race kit pick-up, manning water stations, course marshaling and hanging medals around runners’ necks as they fi nished their events. After their races, participants were treated to a free pancake breakfast courtesy of Calgary Stampede Caravan Committee and complimentary 10-minute sports therapy sessions from Endura Health and ProActive Health Group.

The title sponsor for the 2013 Run for L’Arche is Economical Insurance, one of Canada’s largest property and casualty insurance companies. The event is also widely supported through sponsorships from the insurance industry and the greater Calgary community.
