10 years, 10,000 pancakes & $45,000 fundraised!
This year is an important milestone for our Red Deer office, as we’re celebrating 10 successful (and delicious) years of our annual Westerner Days Pancake Breakfast!
Each year, we aim to make our pancake breakfast bigger and better. We’ve won “best decorated business” for Westerner Days, presented by the Red Deer Advocate. We started out in 2005 with a few hundred people in attendance and just under $2000 raised for the Children’s Wish Foundation, but by 2013 we’ve more than doubled in attendance and collectively raised over $45,000!
We’re incredibly proud of the volunteer work our employees do and we wholeheartedly believe it’s important to give back to our community in a meaningful way. One of the values we pride ourselves in as a company, is hiring the best talent and our incredible people. We have employees volunteering in all capacities, within various communities we do business in as well as supporting our own initiatives. In previous years, we were proud to donate all funds from our breakfasts to the Red Deer Hospice Society, The Golden Circle Senior Resource Centre and the Children’s Wish Foundation.
This year, we will be supporting the Red Deer Food Bank and their Hamper Program. Did you know that the Hamper Program feeds over 15,000 Red Deer residents each year, covering 22,000 sq. km in Central Alberta? Incredible! Each year, the Red Deer Food Bank moves over 1.5 million pounds of food throughout the city and region, doing so with a dedicated team of volunteers, Board of Directors and a staff of nine.
