Rogers Insurance Run for L’Arche

The Run for L’Arche began in 2011 by a Rogers Insurance and L’Arche employees after they travelled to France to participate in a marathon. Their visit inspired them to organize a half-marathon to raise funds in support of the L’Arche Calgary community. This event is now one of the most popular events on the Calgary race calendar and has raised over $460,000 for L’Arche Calgary’s homes and programs for adults with developmental disabilities. This wouldn’t be possible without our participants and volunteers!

Rogers Insurance has supported the Run for L’Arche and Economical Insurance has been the presenting sponsor since 2011. To promote the race within the insurance industry, awards are given out annually to insurance participants, including the fastest broker, fastest underwriter, and much more!

Run for L’Arche Race Information

There are four events for participants in the Rogers Run for L’Arche:

  • Half Marathon Course
  • 10k Course
  • 5k Course
  • 1k Fun Run, Walk & Obstacle Course

We welcome all levels of runners, walkers and rollers (wheelchairs). No pets allowed. Although the half marathon, 10k and 5k events are competitive and chip timed, walkers are allowed for all events. Our goal is to offer a fun and well-organized race every year. The event will take place regardless of the weather so come prepared!

Gun Time is the OFFICIAL time. All awards and finishing positions are based on the time from the start of the race ”gun” to when you cross the finish line as per IAAF, Athletics Alberta and Athletics Canada standards.

The half marathon, 10k and 5k courses are certified by Athletics Alberta. In 2020, we announced 3 new courses for these events which will be run on the Bow River, Bow Valley, Riverwalk and Nosehill pathways:

Please Note: The race is not on a closed course so please watch out for other path users. We ask that anyone running with a jogging stroller to start at the back to avoid impeding other participants. We also recommend that all runners or walkers do not wear headphones as they may inhibit your ability to hear course marshals and other racers.

All races begin at Fort Calgary. Paid parking is available at Fort Calgary as is paid street parking and nearby overflow parking.

If you have any questions, please email

Water Stations and First Aid

There are 3 water stations along our routes, each outfitted with a port-a-pottie and staffed by an EMR. There are also more staffers at Fort Calgary with a Medical Standby Coordinator and emergency response vehicle. There are full washrooms available at Fort Calgary.

Team Registrations

We have team categories for the half marathon, 10k and 5k events! Anyone can enter a group of four or more participants as a team.

We also offer team registration for our 1k Fun Run & Obstacle Course for family and friends.

There are a range of insurance industry corporate team categories. The corporate teams will compete separately from other teams – get your office mates motivated to come out and compete this year!

Your Team Captain should register first and set your team name. When other members of the team register online, they can select that team name. You must register under the same team name to be part of a team.

Race Kit Pickups

We’re so grateful for our volunteers who help pack the race kits and make sure our participants are ready to run on race day.

Race kits include bib, tech shirt, race day information, timing chip and kit bag.
