Rogers Insurance Run for L’Arche

Rogers Insurance helped establish the Rogers Insurance Run for L’Arche in 2011 and has continued to coordinate and lead the race. Each year, our staff both run and volunteer to help raise money for this event. To date, we’ve raised $500,000 to support people with developmental disabilities through L’Arche’s programs

Our Impact

L’Arche has grown to include 153 communities and 21 community projects in 38 countries on five continents around the world. L’Arche Calgary supports five homes, a Supported Independent Living Program, and a Tamarack Day Program. L’Arche creates community for over 100 people, including 33 core members with developmental disabilities.

In conjunction with Economical Insurance, Rogers Insurance helped establish the Rogers Insurance Run for L’Arche in 2011 and has continued to coordinate and lead the race. Each year, our staff both run and volunteer to help raise money for this event. The Rogers Insurance Run for L’Arche is one of the most popular early spring events on the Calgary running calendar.

Run for L’Arche Race Information

** Please note our 2021 in-person event has been postponed due to COVID-19 restrictions, however our virtual event will still go forward as planned between March 27 – April 4, 2021. We are currently planning for a new date later this spring or early summer for an in-person race, dependent on COVID-19 restrictions. Stay tuned for more information on a new date. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.

For our in-person registrants, we have already transferred your registration to our scheduled virtual event. Please continue to book your appointments to collect your race-kit bag and bib as scheduled at Strides Running Stores. An email has been sent out to all who have registered with more details, but if you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to us at runforlarche@rogersinsurance.ca

 

For our 2021 race, we are providing a finishing medal for participants of our event. In the future, we will return to offering top placement times, age categories, teams and insurance industry awards.

All 2021 participants will receive an exciting kitbag consisting of a face mask, a lunch bag and a finishing medal. Pick-up location and mailout details for Calgary to be provided.

We welcome all levels of runners, walkers and rollers.

  • POSTPONED. In-Person – 10K or 5K separate formal routes. City of Calgary pathway routes are provided on the registration page, and, while not certified for this event, both distances will be chipped timed.

Race kit pick-up from Strides Running Stores and mail-out details have been provided on Race Roster when you register.

  • Virtual – Half Marathon, 10K, 5K or Snowman 1K Fun Run. Optional routes on City of Calgary pathways will be provided.

Event:   Saturday, March 27 – Sunday, April 4, 2021

Our creative participants decide on the format, location and date(s) to complete their virtual race! Whether you run along a city pathway, or even on a treadmill – it all counts! Please follow all COVID-19 guidelines and restrictions in your area.

We have added a virtual Snowman 1K Fun Run – great for all ages!

Event Volunteers

In past years, our over 200 core supporters have been needed to ensure the success of our events.

This year, subject to the City of Calgary and Alberta Health Services guidelines, we will need fewer positions for the in-person event day on Saturday, March 27, 2021. Key volunteer positions include:

  • Course Marshals: for each of our two separate routes
  • Cyclists: 1

All volunteers will be provided with PPE and are required to adhere to all current City of Calgary and Alberta Health Services COVID-19 guidelines and regulations.

Ambassadors – Donations & Fundraisers

Even if you are not a runner and can’t make it to volunteer at our in-person event, we still need your vital support.

For the first year ever, consider registering as an Ambassador! You can support a participant or build a team of fundraisers, and we will be drawing for great prizes to recognize your efforts. Individual donations make a difference, every dollar counts.

Alternatively, we have an option for employers to consider arranging with us to provide support for employees by paying for their race fees.
